Introduction
The
Lion Hotel is situated in the centre of one of
Derbyshire’s most historic towns – Belper. It was
here that Jedediah Strutt established the first
cotton mill in 1776, using power from the River
Derwent.
The
hotels frontage dates from this period and having
been extensively refurbished, the hotel provides an
extremely high level of comfort and service.
The
hotel is licensed to hold civil wedding ceremonies /
blessings and provides the complete day for the
bride, groom and their guests.
Whether it is an intimate family gathering or a

Directions by road
Belper is 15-20 minutes from the M1, exit junction 25 or
26 then follow signs for Matlock A6. The hotel is
located in the centre of Belper on the A6. Coming from
the north, exit at junction 28; again follow signs for
the A6 to Derby / Matlock.
Nottingham East Midlands airport is a 30 minute drive.
Follow signs for A6 Derby and then for A6 Matlock.
Directions by rail
Belper railway station is just a 1 minute walk from the
hotel. There are connections every hour from Derby.
