Introduction
Steeped in history, the Plough and Harrow Hotel was
built in 1704, and was originally a wayside inn. The
hotel is located on the Hagley Road, Edgbaston,
close to Birmingham city centre. Within only a short
distance of the lively nightlife of Broad Street,
the International Convention Centre, National Indoor
Arena and the new Bull Ring Shopping Centre the
hotel serves as an excellent base in Birmingham.
This traditional red brick Victorian hotel stands in
its own gardens and there are 44 en-suite bedrooms
available, each equipped with satellite television,
radio, direct dial telephone, tea and coffee
facilities and hairdryer.
When wishing to dine the hotel's Tolkien Restaurant
and Cocktail Bar, with its relaxed atmosphere and
fantastic food, offers a perfect setting in which to
unwind or hold an informal business meeting.
The Plough and Harrow Hotel is also fully capable of
hosting civil ceremonies, wedding receptions,
conferences and small business events, making it the
ideal venue for all your business and leisure
needs. We also hold highly popular murder/mystery
nights throughout the year.

Directions by road
From
M5 – South-West
Leave the M5 at junction 3 and travel along the A456 (Hagley
Road) for just over 4 miles. At this point you should
see the Strathallan Thistle Hotel on your left.
Continue for another 1/3rd of a mile through
three sets of traffic lights. The Plough and Harrow is
on the left immediately past the first set of traffic
lights after the Ivy Bush Public House.
From
M6 – South and North-West
Leave the M6 at junction 6 and follow the A38(M).
Follow signs to city centre and south – A38(M). Do not
take any exit to left. Go over one flyover and continue
through three underpasses. Get into right hand lane
immediately after leaving third underpass. At the Lee
Bank Middleway traffic lights just after Bristol Street
Motors, turn right. Continue for ¾ mile to the Five
Ways Island and then take the third exit left onto the
Hagley Road (A456). Between the first and second set of
traffic lights that you come to, there is a break in the
dual carriageway where it is possible to do a U-turn.
Return to that first set of traffic light and the hotel
is immediately past them on your left. It is also
possible to turn right at the second set of lights, go
down Monument Road and then first right into Plough and
Harrow Road. If you do that, then turn left at the
lights back onto Hagley Road and the Plough and Harrow
is immediately on your left.
