Introduction
It’s
never too early to start thinking about your ideal
venue, and if you want a city centre wedding with
style, choose St. Mary’s Guildhall, one of the
finest medieval guildhalls in England.
St.
Mary’s Guildhall, near the ruins of Coventry's old
Cathedral, has been a popular venue for several
centuries, offering today's guests an authentic
medieval experience and, for marriages, a
magnificent alternative to a traditional church
wedding.
Whether
you choose to hold you wedding ceremony, your
wedding reception or both, the experienced and
friendly team will ensure your wedding day is an
exceptional and memorable event.
Civil
weddings can be held in a choice of three historic
rooms, each with a different seating capacity,
creating that intimate and special atmosphere. We
offer an extensive menu selection, which can be
tailored to meet your specific needs if required
St.
Mary’s has stood at the heart of Coventry for over
650 years, and witnessed events of both national and
local importance. It served as the centre of King
Henry VI’s court during the War of the Roses and as
a prison to Mary, Queen of Scots. William
Shakespeare is thought to have staged his plays here
and writer George Eliot, who knew the hall well,
features it in a scene from one of her novels.
Though scarred, it survived the blitz of Coventry
during the Second World War, remaining one of the
city's finest historic buildings.
We are confident that your day in this unique
wedding venue, in the very heart of Coventry’s old
city, will provide memories to last a lifetime.
